On September 12th, 2024, Lorna Dee Cervantes, Blas Falconer, Victoria Bañales, and Christopher Rendon shared the Samper Recital Hall stage. Each writer read their poems and discussed Latino poetry and life in the United States. Adela Najarro served as moderator. The poetry reading and conversation was powerful, enlightening, and fun.
For nearly five centuries, the rich tapestry of Latino poetry has been woven from a wealth of languages and cultures. With distinctive rhythms, lyricism, and candor, and nuanced understandings of place, history, and origin, Latino poets have brought dazzling insight to what it means to make a home in America. We had a lovely poetry reading and conversation!
