Since 2015
Our annual August conference will be held both in-person and online. The in-person conference will take place on Saturday, August 17th at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History in Santa Cruz, California, while the online conference will happen on the following Saturday, August 24th, via Zoom.
Part of the Círculo mission is to support each other and create a community of writers without hierarchies or judgment. In that spirit, every workshop is open to all writers, from those just starting their writing journey to published authors. Both dates include break-out sessions where participants generate poetry and prose. The conference concludes with a "Reading and Open Mic" open to all participants on both dates.
Círculo de poetas & Writers is a community of authors dedicated to the creation, promotion, and dissemination of multilingual multicultural poetry and prose through workshops, publications, and public presentations. Founded in 2015, the organization encourages diverse voices and is open to new and established writers. Circulo de poetas & Writers seeks to advocate for and represent writing communities of color and their contributions on local and national levels.
BLACK, AAPI, Indigenous peoples--we stand with you in solidarity--Tu lucha es mi lucha. Círculo de poetas & Writers stands in solidarity with BIPOC communities and acknowledges that we must strive toward social justice and the safety of BIPOC bodies in this nation. We value the voices, stories, and experience of BIPOC peoples while condemning the violence, harassment, and bigotry faced by our communities.
Membership in Círculo de poetas & Writers is open to all writers in any stage of their careers who wish to engage collaboratively with writers from communities of color. By working with each other, we hope to expand and develop our diverse voices into a supportive network that promotes POC in the literary arts.
