In Nicole's workshop, "The Heroine's Journey," you will think of a heroine from history, or a story, or a myth you have admired. Using the Schmidt version of the Heroine’s Journey, we will study and write about how this heroine connects to your life and offers a way to see a better future.
Nicole has been a high school English teacher for over 20 years, and she is looking forward to teaching a creative writing workshop for adults.
Naomi's workshop, "Embracing Writer's Block & Warming Up to Your Writing Style," will help you to assess your unique approach to writing and offer strategies and techniques to make writing blocks and obstacles into bridges instead.
Naomi is an award-winning poet with numerous publications, including three poetry collections. She offers poetry workshops in the Bay Area including the Oakland Women’s Cancer Resource Center and New Moon writing workshops for Bay Area women of color.

Círculo de poetas & Writers is a community of authors dedicated to the creation, promotion, and dissemination of multilingual multicultural poetry and prose through workshops, publications, and public presentations. Founded in 2015, the organization encourages diverse voices and is open to new and established writers. Circulo de poetas & Writers seeks to advocate for and represent writing communities of color and their contributions on local and national levels.
BLACK LIVES MATTER--Tu lucha es mi lucha. Círculo de poetas & Writers stands in solidarity with BLM and acknowledges that we must strive toward social justice and the safety of black bodies in this nation.
We also stand in solidarity with AAPI communities and value their voices, stories, and experience while condemning the violence, harassment, and bigotry faced by AAPI communities in this nation.
Membership in Círculo de poetas & Writers is open to all writers in any stage of their careers who wish to engage collaboratively with writers from communities of color. By working with each other, we hope to expand and develop our diverse voices into a supportive network that promotes POC in the literary arts.
